Sea of Thieves Season 9: All You Need to Know
On Thursday, March 16, 2023, Season 9 of Sea of Thieves will be released. During the upcoming season, rather than focusing on a single major content update like becoming a Captain or the on-demand PvP faction conflicts, several adjustments will be made to the existing gameplay mechanics, as stated in the official content update video.
The first order of business is updating the Forts of Fortune. The Fort’s treasury now includes the Chest of Fortune and its other loot. The video continues explaining that the Chest of Fortune will grant players a great deal of gold and contribute towards new Commendations.
The Fates of Fortune Ship Set is available to players if they have earned these Commendations. More pieces from this set will be introduced to the game in subsequent seasons. Reaper and the Reaper’s Bounty Chests will be updated for Season 9.

Once unlocked, they will grant players access to weapons from the Fates of Fortunes Cosmetics Set, and their distinctive beacons will always be visible. World events like Forts of Fortune and Ashen Lords have had difficulty adjusting and rebalancing.
They’ll be more challenging but proportional to the player’s crew size. Also, the emergent Ghost Ship conflicts have returned, and they’re tuned to perfection this time. Seeing shipwrecks, getting enveloped in fog, and running into sea monsters like the Megalodon and Kraken are all more likely now that Rare has arrived.
These alterations will make the Sea of Thieves universe feel “more alive and active” than ever before. During Season 9, new Voyages for Pirate Legends will be released, with players “setting out on the quest, battling devilish skills to unearth accursed wealth or going on an explosive adventure to dig up some volatile valuables.”
The legendary pirates can find the Skull of Destiny by following the directions on a unique Athena’s Fortune Compass. This one-of-a-kind skull has been endowed with the ability to call forth any Flames of Fate, and it can also be used as a Ritual Skull.
The new season adds 100 unique levels to Sea of Thieves, each with its cosmetic goods and other goodies to discover. And fresh emissary pay is on the way, too. A new batch of loot and merchandise for sale in the game’s Pirate Emporium will also be coming soon.
