Andrew D. Avila, age 25, of Elmont, was charged on Thursday, March 2, for killing Rebecca Carlson, age 39, of Hempstead whose body was found on Tuesday, Feb. 14 in South Hempstead, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, officers responded to a call for a woman lying on the ground next to a dumpster in the rear of Advanced Auto Parts located at 1140 Grand Ave.  The woman, identified as Carlson, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
