(CelebrityAccess) — John “Sib” Hashian, a former drummer for rock band Boston, died aboard a concert cruise on Wednesday. He was 67.
According to the Associated Press, his son, Adam Hashian, confirmed his father's death on Thursday.
Hashian was listed as one of the featured performers for the Legends of Rock Cruise, which departed Miami on Sunday with an intinerary that included Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.
Hashian was best known for his work with Boston, stepping in for original drummer Jim Masdea after the band's label Epic Records demanded that Masdea be replaced for recording.
Hashian performed on the band's debut album "Boston" (1976) as well as their followup "Don't Look Back" (1978) before he was replaced by a returning Masdea.
After his stint with Boston, he performed on fellow Boston member Barry Goudreau's self-titled solo album in 1980, as well as Sammy Hagar's "Live: Hallelujah " (2003) " and Ernie and the Automatics, a band featuring Goudreau on guitar.
Starting in 2012, he began serving as co-host for Scorch's PFG-TV, a late night, entertainment/talk show, with a "rock and roll" attitude. – Staff Writers
